Quantum Global Ecosystem to Gather at Quantum World Congress

Quantum Coalitions to hold annual plenaries at Quantum World Congress; Dr. Gerald Gilbert, MITRE Quantum Moonshot program leader to lead Quantum Luminaries session

Quantum World Congress is the first-of-its-kind global quantum conference, exposition and network series and will attract a cross-sector, multi-disciplinary audience and will showcase major trends in quantum solutions, research, education, workforce, thought leadership, policy, business and investment. This global convening will take place November 29 through December 1 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C. The event is organized by Connected DMV, a nonprofit that brings together Greater Washington’s collective assets and brightest minds to deliver initiatives that have the power to fundamentally reshape our physical, digital, economic, and social infrastructure, as a program of its Potomac Quantum Innovation Center initiative.

Connected DMV is excited to announce that MITRE Corporation fellow and Principal Investigator of the Quantum Information Science Research Project, Dr. Gerald Gilbert, will be attending and speaking at the event on the morning of November 30th. As the head of this moonshot program, Dr. Gilbert has unique insights on the power of potential quantum solutions, as well as the challenges in developing them.

“We bring ground-breaking solutions to solve our biggest challenges for a safer world,” Gilbert said. “For more than 20 years MITRE’s quantum technology research program has recognized the potential ways in which quantum information science could benefit our nation. The Quantum Moonshot, a partnership between MITRE, MIT and Sandia National Laboratories, is an exemplar of the fruitful results that come from combining non-academic and academic scientific research organizations. Gatherings such as Quantum World Congress are extremely useful in helping government agencies, academia and industry understand emerging technologies and the transformations that these systems can deliver.”

On November 29th, the Quantum Economic Development Consortium (QED-C), will run their annual convening concurrently with Quantum World Congress. Dr. Celia Merzbacher, the Executive Director of QED-C noted that, “Quantum World Congress is a unique opportunity to connect with key people from all segments of the quantum ecosystem, including influencers from industry, academia, and government. QED-C is pleased to be a partner in what will be a stimulating and enriching event.”

Also, on the 29th, the Quantum Industry Coalition (QIC) will host its first annual meeting at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center to capitalize on key industry players coming together for one event. QIC is the voice of the U.S. quantum industry and is dedicated to maintaining U.S. leadership in the development of quantum research and development.

QIC Executive Director, Paul Stimers said, “Quantum innovations have tremendous disruptive potential. For the United States and its allies, the economic and national security benefits of leading the quantum revolution could be immense, as could be the risks involved in being left behind. Quantum World Congress provides an essential environment for cross-sector and international collaboration where industry leaders can engage with policy makers to shape the future of quantum technology.”

In addition to world-class programming from contributors representing fourteen countries, Quantum World Congress will also have educational and professional development opportunities previously never offered for those interested in deepening their quantum knowledge and skill sets through bootcamps and workshops. Both certificate and non-certificate-based programs will be available.
